Then they came to a place which was named Gethsemane; and He said to His disciples, “Sit here while I pray.” And He took Peter, James, and John with Him, and He began to be troubled and deeply distressed. Then He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch.”
He went a little farther, and fell on the ground, and prayed that if it were possible, the hour might pass from Him. And He said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for You. Take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will.”
Then He came and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “Simon, are you sleeping? Could you not watch one hour? Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
Jesus asks his disciples, “What! Could you not watch with Me one hour?” Jesus asked the disciples to invest in personal prayer, in order to strengthen them from coming temptations. 1 Corinthians 10:13 says, “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” When Jesus found His companions, they were sleeping. The same is true today, many are sleeping when they should be watching and praying.
The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
What would happen if you spent one hour, every day, in prayer? What would happen if one million people spent one hour, every day, in prayer?
While we should pray without ceasing throughout each day, setting aside at least one hour a day to pray for our nation, our family, God’s plan for us and for His Kingdom on earth, puts a demand and release on God’s promises and blessings. And sets up our day for our hearts and minds to be led by the Spirit. This is why we’re initiating Pray One.
Pray One is a declaration of the people of God to pray for one hour a day for the rest of their lives.
To see what eye has not seen and hear what ear has not heard. To release His will be done on earth as it is in heaven. We want to see one million people praying one hour a day, as a start. Not just a movement, but a lifestyle.
