Fan the Flame

"I'm writing to encourage you to fan into a flame and rekindle the fire of the spiritual gift God imported to you when I laid my hands upon you. For God will never give you the spirit of cowardly fear, but he gives the Holy Spirit who gives you mighty power, love, and a mind that has been delivered, protected, and secure." 2 Timothy 1:6-7 TPT

The Scripture tells us that we should prophesy to one another, which is to speak words of encouragement to the body of Christ. Here in 2 Timothy, Paul is speaking to his spiritual son, Timothy, expressing to him to rekindle the flame that was placed on the inside of him by Holy Spirit with the laying on of hands. Paul says that we are to fan this flame. I want to remind you that it only takes a small ember to get a fire started. When we fan the flame, the flame gets bigger, the flame gets hotter, and whatever is placed upon this fire will be consumed by it. Paul goes on to tell Timothy that God did not give him a spirit of cowardly fear. We need to see the enemy of our Spirit man as the coward he is, trying to inflict fear upon our lives. Our Father did not give us a spirit of cowardly fear, but what He did give us by Holy Spirit was mighty power. With this power, we have love and a sound mind! We have been delivered! We are protected and we are secure! Let me prophesy to you today that you are stronger than what you think and you have more power inside of you by Holy Spirit than what you know. Let love be your guide, and let your mind be fixed on the thoughts of heaven. So go ahead—throw cowardly fear onto the rekindled flame of burning fire of Holy Spirit and watch it be completely and utterly turned into ash. Fan the Flame!
